The Kentucky General Assembly is overriding many of the vetoes issued by Governor Andy Beshear.  Lawmakers were back in session yesterday, with the Republican majority wasting no time in reversing a large portion of the governor's choices on submitted legislation.  Many of the overrides were on line-item vetoes in the state budget, with Republican assembly members again arguing that the Commonwealth is overspending.  Their Democrat counterparts were outspoken in favor of the governor's decisions, claiming the GOP spending plan leaves serious gaps in Medicaid funding and sets up dangerous limits on disaster response.Republican Kentucky Auditor Allison Ball is in the nation's capital today to share her insight on government fraud.  She has been asked to testify before a Congressional subcommittee that is focused on preventing misuse of federal funds.  In a report released last month, Ball said her office uncovered one-billion dollars in financial reporting errors in Kentucky for fiscal year 2025.  Governor Andy Beshear previously disputed the accuracy of that report, referring to a portion of it as a "political attack."Authorities in Nelson County are looking for a county prison inmate who escaped from custody this week.  Officials say Jerry Nation walked off from a work detail on Wire Lane in Bardstown on Tuesday afternoon.  He was picking up garbage with the Nelson County Road Department as part of his 12-month sentence, according to Nelson County Jailer Justin Hall.  Anyone who has information on Nation's whereabouts should call 9-1-1 or local law enforcement immediately.  A woman is dead after crashing her vehicle into a Louisville home.  The incident happened Monday afternoon when the female driver of a pickup truck lost control of the truck, causing the truck to go off of Cooper Chapel Road and hit a home.  The woman, who has not been identified, was killed in the crash.  The crash caused structural damage to the home, but no one was home at the time. The Lexington Police Department is warning residents of an increase in reports of guns being stolen out of vehicles.  LPD leaders say 25 guns were taken out of cars in only one month, with over 15 of those cars being left unlocked.  Some criminals are specifically targeting vehicles as a source of weapons that can be put out on the street, according to authorities.  Officials are urging people to keep cars locked and to keep all valuables, particularly firearms, safely stored in the home.
